CRESTONE — Back to the 80’s was the theme of the New Year’s celebration at T-Road Brewing Company in Crestone on Sunday, Dec. 31. The event was hosted by the brewery and Cosmic Pop-up Events.

Tickets to the event were $30 each and the event included dinner and a drink, a live DJ, a gift bag, and a champagne toast at midnight.

Arielle Blackwell of Cosmic Pop-up events spoke about the celebration and how everything went.

"It was a great turn out and we had a lot of people attend the celebration. There were strobe lights, streamers, a disco ball, there was tons of 80's music playing, including, Wham, Prince, Madonna, Michael Jackson, just about every 80's song you could think of. People were dancing and laughing, everyone had a great time," Blackwell said.

Blackwell said that after the success of last year’s 70's celebration, it seemed only natural to do the 80’s this year.

"Everyone was dressed in their 80's clothes. We had the high hairdos complete with rolled socks, some people had leotards on, there were so many different outfits. People were really into the 80's theme. We had a best costume contest, a dance contest, a lip sync contest, there were door prizes it was so great," Blackwell said.

Blackwell said they want to do it again next year.

"We want to just keep moving up next year,” Blackwell said. “We will definitely do this next year if we can. Next year's event will be a 90's celebration. Everyone really seemed to enjoy the event, so we will just keep moving up, and doing this every year hopefully."

Don Salvator, of Center, attended the event and said it was a blast.

"I am from the 80's and I walked in with my leather jacket, my shiny penny shoes, and my hair feathered back. I took my shades in with me. I was wearing a nice white shirt under my leather jacket, and I had some fun. My girlfriend wore her hair really high,” Salvator said. “She even bought some Aqua Net from the store to make her hair stand up higher, it was just so funny. We both looked like we had just walked out of an 80's photo album. The music was great, the people all socialized well. We got to drink and toast at midnight. It was a fun event, If T-Road does it again next year, I will be there. Back to the 80's took us back to the 80's to celebrate the New Year."
