SAGUACHE— The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a serious injury motorcycle crash that occurred at about 6:40 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at the intersection of Saguache County Road T and Camino Baca Grande near Crestone.
CSP reports said Hunter Goodnight, 22, of Crestone was driving a Suzuki street bike northbound on Camino Baca Grande when the motorcycle traveled off the right side of the road at a high rate of speed.
Goodnight apparently attempted to bring the motorcycle back onto the road and it traveled across the roadway before flipping onto its right side and colliding with a rock wall.
He then separated from the vehicle and came to rest against the wall, while the motorcycle traveled back onto the roadway and came to rest on its left side on the road.
Goodnight was transported to San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in serious condition and was flown to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver with serious head trauma.
As of Sept. 21, Goodnight was still in critical condition.
A motorcycle helmet was not in use at the time of the crash and speed and alcohol are believed to be factors. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
