ALAMOSA — The 8th Annual San Luis Valley Parent Institute Conference will take place on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 8:30 a.m. until 2:15 p.m. at Adams State College Student Union Building in Alamosa.

Participants must register by Oct. 31. Registration cost is $5 per person in advance and $10 per person at the door.  Send fees to the participating agency or to:  La Llave, 801 1/2 State St. P.O. Box 508, Alamosa CO  (719) 589-9688.

Childcare will not be provided, so parents must make arrangements for their children. Children cannot attend sessions with parents. 

Keynote speaker this year is Jedd Hafer, a national presenter and former comedian. For more than 14 years Hafer has worked with severely troubled kids as a director at Children’s ARK, one of the most innovative and caring treatment centers in the western region where he has witnessed time and again how effective Love & Logic can be with kids who possess behavior problems. Hafer and his wife are the parents of four kids, two of whom are adopted out of the foster care system.  His experiences with kids and extreme challenges fuel his flair for training staff and parents in the Love & Logic skills.  As a former touring comic, Hafer’s presentations are always filled with humor and passion.

This conference is for all parents and educators interested in learning how to encourage and support children and their love of learning.

Por más de 14 años Hafer ha trabajado con niños severamente molestados como un director en ARCA de Niños, uno de los centros de tratamientos más innovadores en la egión occidental donde él ha presenciado repetidas veces como el Amor & Lógica es  efectivo  con los niños que poseen problemas de conducta. Hafer y su esposa son los padres de 4 niños, de los cuales dos son adoptados del sistema de cuidado adoptivo. Sus experiencias con desafíos extremos de niños abastecen su instinto personal y habilidades  de entrenar a padres en el Amor & Lógica. Como viajador cómico anteriormente, las presentaciones de Hafer se llenan siempre de humor y pasión.
