ALAMOSA — Danice Elaine Rockey, 65, died June 30, 2012, in Alamosa.
She was born May 12, 1947, in Parker, S. Dak,, to Melvin and Hazel (Weeldreyer) Hagen. Danice grew up in Parker and moved to Center as a young woman.
She spent time teaching in Center Schools, and married Warren Rockey on Aug. 6, 1972, in Center. To this marriage her two sons, Sheldon and Brendon, were born.
Danice was a devoted farm wife and very active in the community. She was a member of Town in Country Club, Center United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She enjoyed painting china, scrapbooking and making cards. She also enjoyed spending time with her family especially her four young grandchildren.
Her father, Melvin Hagen precedes her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Warren Rockey of Alamosa; her mother, Hazel Hagen of Monte Vista; her two sons, Sheldon (Nicole) and Brendon (Heather) of Center; along with four grandchildren, Taylor, Ashlyn, Jordan and Ellaree; her sister, Patricia (Austin) Romero of Monte Vista and her brother Shawn Hagen of Sioux Falls, South Dak.
The funeral was July 6 at Center United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Burial was in the MOnte Vista Cemetery.
