CENTER — The Center Consolidated School District is gearing up for a new school year and is planning for in-person learning.

Registration for all new and returning students begins on Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free health screenings for students will also be available during that time.

The first day of school will be Aug. 16 and will be held in-person.

Several job opportunities are currently available with CCSD. The school website lists several teaching positions and a coaching position.

The Center Positive Youth Development Team in the school is hiring for many positions. The CPYD team is hiring full-time positions for a Safe Routes to School Coordinator, Post-Secondary Workforce Liaison, Migrant Education Student Support Coordinator, Re-Engagement Specialist, School Social Workers or School Counselors, and part-time After-School Positive Youth Development Facilitators.

According to CCSD guidance counselor Katrina Ruggles, “We are looking to fill these full-time grant funded positions.”

Ruggles went on to explain that these positions are all focused on helping Center students achieve success in school and to provide resources for safety, health, and the re-engagement of studies. This also includes a program for educational advancement, the Entrepreneurial Innovation Club, which connects students with the Center community.

There are also part-time positions available as After-School Positive Youth Development Facilitators who work with the Viking Youth Club and connect students with art, science, sports and other after school enrichment activities.
