Clerk and Recorder’s Office to visit town of Crestone bimonthly

Thanks to Steve and Elaine from the Crestone Mercantile, the County Clerk’s Office will set up visiting hours at the Sheriff’s Satellite Office.  The office adjoins the mercantile located at 182 E Galena Ave. in the town of Crestone.

Citizen expectations are on the rise.  It is our goal to engage citizens and personalize services for a better citizen experience.

Ben Gerade will spearhead the project.  He will be available every second and fourth Tuesday of every month, beginning Aug. 11, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. (with the exception of holidays and inclement weather).

Though we are unable to set up State equipment for vehicle registrations, Ben will be available to answer questions regarding the following:
• Title work
• Recording
• Vehicle registrations
• Duplicate title transactions
• Manufactured homes
• Marriage licenses
• Voter registration
• “Anything else” as related to our daily operations

Ben will be equipped with a laptop and an iPad to assist with limited online transactions.  He can help you look up your voter registration, renew your vehicle registration online, etc.  He will also have available some helpful handouts for you to take home.

For any transaction, please have your driver’s license (and proof of insurance for vehicle renewals) ready.

Many transactions cannot be processed on location.  Ben will be happy to be the “go-between” courier for transporting documents back and forth for your convenience.

If you have an out-of-state title, please have your VIN verification from the Sheriff’s Department ready.  For questions, please call 719-655-2512.

This will be a new “distance learning” experience for us all.  Please remember, as a result of COVID-19, you are required to wear a mask and be conscious of six-foot social distancing.

Our team is excited to have Ben represent us in Crestone.  We hope this needed service will be a benefit for all.
