Crestone Mayor Danforth survives recall

CRESTONE — Based on unofficial, preliminary voting results from April 5, Crestone Mayor Kairina Danforth survived the recall.

Fifty-one people voted against recalling Danforth and 25 voted yes. Danforth has been mayor for 10 years.

Also before voters was "Reallocation of a Portion of Dedicated Sales Tax to a Special Reserve Fund for Water and Sewer Capital Improvements." Voters overwhelmingly favored this 55-7.

In the trustees' race, five candidates were running for the four seats. Leading after Tuesday's unofficial results were Daya Scheide (54), Kizzen N. Laki (52), Stephen J. Hume (49), and Adam Kinney (45). Ginny Ducale was fifth with 40 votes.

Results are unofficial until the election is certified later this month.
