Missing ND man located

SAGUACHE — A North Dakota man headed to Saguache to visit a relative never arrived last Friday and the Saguache Sheriff’s Office looking for him over the weekend report he has been found safe in another state.
Michael T. Findley, aka Changes Wind Boy, last texted a family member to say he was in Leadville and about two hours from Saguache. But Findley’s phone was found to be in Iowa when Saguache County Sheriff’s Office officials pinged the cell. Verizon confirmed that the location for the ping was correct, a sheriff’s office spokesperson said.
The check was repeated again Sunday evening and the phone still showed Iowa as its last location. Captain Ken Wilson confirmed Tuesday that the man had contacted relatives from an Iowa location.
After issuing a BOLO, Saguache County officials closed the case Sunday. Findley’s mother later notified the sheriff’s office he had called to wish her happy birthday.
While it is difficult for loved ones to wait while the status of their adult relatives can be determined, the sheriff’s office reminds the public that law enforcement agencies cannot justify the use of time and personnel to actively investigate every overdue or “missing” person.
If, however, there is evidence indicating foul play an investigation can proceed, but no foul play was suspected in Findley’s case
