More library news — thank you library helpers

CENTER— In an introductory article in last week’s paper, new Center Head Librarian Lupita Ortega said she was grateful to be able to work with former head librarian Cheryl Garcia and former assistant librarian Perfecta Guadiana last year before they retired to learn the ropes.
She also would like to thank several other individuals who help her with the many tasks that keep the library running smoothly.
• Natalie Barela who used to work in the cafeteria, is now working for Ortega doing public library duties such as making copies, checking out books and helping patrons with the computers. She also does the tally sheets that are to be presented to the town board which helps fund the library. In addition, Barela opens the library on Fridays and Saturdays.
• Haskin Elementary secretary Brenda Montoya is Ortega’s after-school librarian. Her duties also include checking out books, helping patrons, and also helping students with their after-school needs.
“It’s great having her after school because she is fully acquainted with all of our students and parents and is able to offer support where needed,” Ortega said.
• Last but not least are the wonderful student aids.  Helping out in the library this year is Obed Perez, Natalia Cendejas, Nuvia Quintana, Hailey Garcia, and Alyssa Vargas. Ortega commented that the students add much to the library staff and she is pleased to have them as her helpers.
“It takes a team to make things run smoothly and I feel we have a great one!” Ortega exclaimed.
