LA JARA — Distinguished and longtime La Jara resident Mr. Clinton “C.G.” Betenbough, 101, passed away on Nov. 3, 2023. in La Jara.

Neva Kathleen Ross, born May 5, 1926, passed away Sept. 7, 2023, at the age of 97. She is survived by her son-in-Law Doug Davie, three grandchildren, Tandy (Nicole) McDaniel, Lucas (Kat) Millhouse, and Meara (Terry) McDaniel, and five great-grandchildren (Aiden, Quinlann, Mackenzie, Aubrianna, and Kathryn).

Mary Frances Benavides of Del Norte, Colo., returned to our Lord on Sept. 2, 2023. She was born on April 18, 1948, in La Garita, Colo. Frances grew up in La Garita and worked as a teacher aide for the Del Norte School District, as the church secretary for several years at Holy Name of Mary in Del Norte, then returned to the Del Norte School District to be a bus driver before retiring.

The Creede community has lost a true local icon with the passing of Merolyn Kay Wyley. She passed away at her home in Creede on Sept. 1, 2023. She was born in Monte Vista on Jan. 26, 1945, to W W “Bibs” and Nell Wyley.
