On Aug. 19, 2023, William Dean Philbern, affectionately known as "Pops", went to be with the Lord. He passed in his favorite place in the world, his home, at Blue Creek Lodge.

Alan Dean Moyer’s last at-bat was Aug. 10, 2023, at Atria Campana del Rio in Tucson, Ariz., after a year of declining health accompanied by Alzheimer’s disease. Alan was born on Sept. 4, 1928, on the family farm near Galva, Iowa.

On Monday, July 24, 2023 at 3:25 a.m., Loraine Kay (Rockey) (Johnson) Campbell, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 80 in Newberg, Ore.

Franklin Earl Rogers, of Centennial, Colo., passed away on Aug. 3, 2023. He was 79 years old. Frank, as he was known by friends and family, was born to Jesse and Jessie Rogers on Jan. 30, 1944, in Culver City, Calif. His family moved to Del Norte, Colo., in 1946, where he grew up enjoying the outdoors with his parents, younger brother Steve, and younger sisters, Dianne and Pam.

Longtime San Luis Valley native and porcelain artist, Catherine Lague Woods, passed away on Aug. 4, 2023, at River Valley Nursing Home in Del Norte, Colorado.

Longtime Del Norte resident Gail Soldato died Sunday, July 30,2023, at the River Valley Rehabilitation Healthcare Center Nursing Home in Del Norte, Colo.

Michael Wallace Danielson, 72, passed away on Aug. 4, 2023. Mike was born Sept. 11, 1950, in Concordia, Kan., to Whitney and Maxine (Ouellette) Danielson. He was preceded in death by his parents Whitney and Maxine Danielson, brother Jeff Danielson.

Benjamin John Davis, 41, died Aug. 5, 2023, at his home in Creede, Colo. He was born on Jan. 23, 1982, in Tribune, Kan., the son of Jane Davis.

Robert "Bob" Kernen, a long-time resident of Del Norte, Colo., peacefully passed away on his birthday, Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Bob was born on June 28, 1950, in Del Norte, Colo., to his parents, John and Betty Kernen.

Mike Golder left this world suddenly on July 4 at his home near Del Norte in the company of his two beloved dogs, Baylee and Hershey. He celebrated his 72nd birthday the previous night by indulging in chocolate cake and an assortment of ice cream.

Longtime Monte Vista resident Isabel Marie Pacheco, 89, died June 27, 2023, at the Rio Grande Hospital in Del Norte, Colo. It was with great love and sorrow that her children, all present at her passing, said their goodbyes.

Martha (Marty) Maria Valdez Hagan was called home by her Lord and Savior on June 18, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born in Del Norte, Colo., on Nov. 23, 1942, the daughter of Abel Valdez and Teresa Pacifica Espinosa and sister to Marcella Gonzales Martinez.

Randy Verne Glover of Center, Colo., was born on Dec. 26, 1954, to Theron J. Glover and Leona McComb; he was reunited with them in heaven on June 24, 2023. He will always be remembered as a fun-loving brother, super uncle, and friend.

Martha Ann “Marty” (Adams) Steward, 90, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on June 18, 2023. She lived a full life and touched many hearts on her earthly journey.

Nathaniel David Watts passed away June 14, 2023, in Jamestown, N.D. Nathaniel was a much-beloved son, brother, father and uncle. He graduated from Aztec New Mexico Highschool in 1987. He worked as an oilfield technician and CDL driver for many years in San Juan County, N.M. Nathaniel was injured in a motorcycle accident in 2015 in which he suffered a brain injury from which he never completely recovered, and the injury finally caused his death.

John C. Tompkins, 69, of Tucson, Ariz., passed away on June 2, 2023. Born Aug. 2, 1953, in Greensboro, N.C. John attended Culver Military Academy, Illiana Christian High School, and Calvin College.

Longtime Del Norte resident Lela May Pierce, 88, passed away on May 30, 2023. She was born on a ranch 5 miles west of Del Norte, Colo., on April 4, 1935, to Paul E. and Sarah Frances (Love) Weaver.

Longtime Creede resident Delma Dorothy Dooley, 94, died peacefully at home June 5, 2023, in Creede.

Sally Hubbard Towns, beloved wife, sister, aunt and great-aunt, passed away on May 24 due to complications from a stroke and dementia. She was born on Jan. 17, 1950, to the late Millard Farmer Hubbard and Dorothy Adams Hubbard in Jackson, Miss., the second of three children. She graduated from Murrah High School in 1968 and was named Junior Miss Jackson and first runner-up for Junior Miss Mississippi that year.

Sam Keith, 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Warren, Texas, on May 30, 2023. He was born on Oct. 3, 1939, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Sam Keith and Opal Thompson Keith.
