ALAMOSA – Officers from the Alamosa Police Department arrested a 28-year-old Alamosa man after a brief chase in a stolen vehicle on Thursday, Jan. 2., according to a press release from the City of Alamosa.
APD located a stolen 2008 Ford Mustang in the 100 block of Broadway at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 2. A brief vehicle pursuit ensued but was terminated due to the suspect's reckless driving and concern for public safety. The stolen vehicle was later found abandoned at Cattails Golf Course.
The driver, identified as Matt Malouff, 28, of Alamosa, fled on foot after abandoning the vehicle. Emergency notifications were sent via reverse 911 to various city locations as officers tracked the suspect. Through alternative investigative techniques and public assistance, Malouff was located in the 700 block of 10th Street and taken into custody without further incident.
Malouff had multiple outstanding warrants, including felony vehicular eluding and parole violation for second-degree assault and vehicular eluding. He now faces additional charges of suspicion of eluding, stolen vehicle, and reckless driving. He was booked into the Alamosa County jail.
The Alamosa Police Department appreciates the assistance of the Alamosa County Sheriff's Office, Colorado State Patrol, and Adams State University’s Police Department in apprehending Malouff and ensuring public safety.
