ALAMOSA — The year 2025 had barely begun when the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center Labor and Delivery unit welcomed into the world the first baby born this year.
Baby Clara Mae Crumley was born on Jan. 1, 2025, at 2:01 a.m., weighing 7 pounds 11 ounces at birth and measuring 19 inches long.
Her proud parents are Kate Crumley and Ben Crumley who live just outside of Alamosa. Baby Clara Mae also has quite an extended family, including maternal grandparents, Jeff and Adeela Harrell, who live outside of Plainview, Texas and paternal grandparents, Clyde and Carroll Crumley, who live in El Campo, Texas.
Clara Mae’s great grandparents who are still living are all on her mother’s side of the family, including Gary and Sharon Harrell, paternal great-grandparents, and Freda Savahl, maternal great-grandmother.
In celebration of being the first baby born in 2025, the Crumleys received a gift basket with donations from Woody’s Q Shack, Narrow Gauge Bookstore, and Treasure Alley. All the amazing Obstetric RNs donated money to make the basket and purchase supplies.
The San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center Labor and Delivery Unit plus new parents and staff at San Luis Valley Health also want to extend their deepest gratitude to the Honeycutt-sponsored Alamosa Round-UP team, who donated the funds that provided each baby born in December – all 28 of them – a “My First Christmas” stocking, hat and socks.
Proceeds from the Honeycutt-sponsored Alamosa holiday parade in downtown Alamosa on Dec. 21 provided the funding to make possible such sweet purchases that spread holiday joy and cheer.
So, thanks to the Honeycutts and welcome to the world and 2025, Clara Mae Crumley!
