ALAMOSA – Five high school football teams form the San Luis Valley will be in first round state playoff action on Saturday.
The following are thumbnail sketches of each of the games.
ALAMOSA (6-3) AT LAMAR (8-1)
This week: The Alamosa Mean Moose will travel to meet the Lamar Thunder on Saturday. The game will be played at Lamar’s new stadium and will kick off at 1 p.m.
Last week: The Mean Moose defeated Pagosa Springs 14-8 at home last Friday. The Thunder defeated Florence 34-14 on the road also last Friday.
Alamosa stat leaders: Dyson Woodward, senior, 1,057 yards passing and eight touchdowns, 1,187 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns. Kevin Gonzales, senior, 20 receptions for 509 yards and three touchdowns. Landon Garcia, senior, 70 total tackles. Zane Zook, senior 4 ½ sacks. Ryan Higareda, senior, three interceptions. Tony Griego, junior, three interceptions.
Lamar stat leaders: Jacob Dunning, sophomore, 2,118 yards passing and 29 touchdowns. Alex Aguilar, sophomore, 446 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Cael Buxton, senior, 56 receptions for 947 yards and 12 touchdowns. Diego Estrada, senior 126 total tackles. Cael Buxton, three interceptions.
Common opponent: Banning Lewis Academy. Alamosa won 51-0 at home on Sept. 6. Lamar won 54-14 at home on Oct. 25.
Last Meeting: Alamosa defeated Lamar 48-8 last season in Alamosa.
Next week: The winner will play the winner of the game between Elizabeth and Eaton.
EADS (5-4) AT SIERRA GRANDE (8-0)
This week: The Sierra Grande Panthers will host the Eads Eagles on Saturday. Kickoff at John Roybal Jr. Field is at 4 p.m.
Last week: The Panthers had an open date. The Eagles lost to Otis 69-7 last Saturday on the road.
Sierra Grande state leaders: Aron Ojeda, senior, 1,452 yards passing and 36 touchdowns. Bryant Tijerina, senior, 342 yards rushing and six touchdowns. Jadyn Martinez, junior, 44 receptions for 836 yards and 19 touchdowns. Jadyn Martinez, 85 total tackles and five interceptions, Carlos Lopez, junior, 4 ½ sacks.
Eads stat leaders: Adyn Hough, sophomore, 616 yards passing and 13 touchdowns. Shaine Winder, junior, 1,122 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns. Karsten Buller, junior, 19 receptions for 254 yards and four touchdowns and 47 total tackles.
Common opponent: Cheraw. Sierra Grande won 46-34 at Cheraw on Aug. 30. Eads won 40-38 at home on Oct. 4.
Last meeting: Sierra Grande defeated Eads 58-47 in Blanca last year.

HOLYOKE (3-4) AT CENTAURI (8-1)
This week: The Centauri Falcons will host the Holyoke Dragons on Saturday. Game time at the Falcons’ field is at 1 p.m.
Last week: The Falcons lost to Monte Vista 36-26 on the road last Friday. The Dragons lost at Burlington last Friday 35-21.
Centauri stat leaders: Sean Jarvies, junior, 834 yards passing and eight touchdowns. Parker Buhr, senior, 1,027 yards rushing, and 11 touchdowns. This week: The Monte Vista Pirates will travel to face the Meeker Cowboys on Saturday. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
Last week: The Pirates defeated Centauri 36-26 at home last Friday. The Cowboys defeated Grand Valley 53-6 on the road last Friday.

This week: The Sanford Mustangs will host the Springfield Longhorns on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
Last week: The Mustangs defeated Dove Creek 41-18 on the road last Friday. The Longhorns defeated Las Animas 24-8 on the road also last Friday.
