ALAMOSA – The third-ranked Alamosa High School volleyball team closed out the regular season on Thursday as the Lady Mean Moose swept Fowler at the AHS gym.
The scores were 25-19, 25-16 and 25-20.
The Lady Grizzlies took an early 5-4 lead in the first set, but Alamosa rallied to take a 15-8 advantage. Fowler reduced its deficit to 17-16, but the Lady Mean Moose finished the set strong to take a 25-19 victory.
The Lady Grizzlies scored the first four points of the second set, but the Lady Mean Moose responded by taking a 9-6 lead. Fowler tied the score at 13-13, but once again, Alamosa finished strong and won the set 25-16.
The Lady Mean Moose took a 10-5 lead to open the third set, but the Lady Grizzlies came back to close within 10-9. Alamosa pushed the lead to 20-11, but Fowler again made a comeback and closed to within 23-20.
The Lady Mean Moose scored the final two points for s 25-20 win.
Morgan Ortega led the Alamosa offense with 29 assists. Taybor Wiedeman led in kills with 12, followed by Aubrey Rothermich with 11, and Laci Christensen, who was making her season debut, had nine.
Arreli Felix led in service aces with three, followed by Ortega, Christensen and Rothermich all with two.
Alamosa (19-4, 8-0) will likely host a Class 3A Regional Tournament next weekend.
