SAGUACHE — The Mountain Valley School hosted a fun Halloween event on Saturday, Oct. 28. Lots of little ghosts, goblins, superheroes, and little witches came to the event.

There was a car show contest for Halloween decorated cars to show off. A chili cookoff was also held in the cafeteria. There were plenty of trick or treaters at the trunk or treat, and lots of parents were dressed up too.

Children could be seen in the parking lot of the school running happily from one car to the next trick or treating for candy. Children could also be seen looking at the decorated cars and taking pictures.

One car was decked out completely in spider webs with a giant furry stuffed spider in the back of the car. There was a tall green zombie roaming from car to car. There were children with alien costumes on, that made them look like they were being carried away by aliens. There was an adult dressed like a giant yellow Pikachu. There was music being played outside of the school and coming from a large purple speaker. People giving out candy could be seen dancing to the music.

Inside of the school the cafeteria smelled like roasted chili. A few parents and residents could be seen setting up pots of chili and talking and laughing. In the front of the cafeteria, there were also cupcakes on trays, and people were standing, and registering participants into the chili contest.

Mountain Valley School District parent Michelle Gallegos was in the parking lot dressed as the Queen of the Spiders. Gallegos was wearing a long black and purple dress with webs in her hair. Her car was filled with spiders crawling from the outside and a few skeletons that the spiders had gotten a hold of were laying and sitting on the inside of the car.

Gallegos also had a large orange bucket of candy inside of the back of her car.

“This is a nice event for the kids. Anytime they have events, I always try to help out and promote everything too. We are happy to be here tonight," she said.
