Mean Moose’s season ends with loss to Severance
ALAMOSA – The Alamosa High School boys basketball season ended Wednesday as the Mean Moose lost to Severance 50-47 at Severance.
Alamosa led 10-9 after the first quarter, but the Silver Knights tied the score at 19-19 at halftime. Severance took a 36-32 lead after the third quarter. The Mean Moose outscored the Silver Knights 15-14 in the fourth quarter.
Brant Jackson led Alamosa with 23 points, followed by TaJuan Jamestown with 11.
TheMean Moose finished the season with 13 wins and 10 losses.
CHSAA releases All-State wrestling teams
ALAMOSA – The Colorado High School Activities Association announced its All-State wrestling teams on Thursday. The teams are posted on the CHSAANow.com web site.
For the boys, Josh Polkowske was a first team selection in Class 3A at 190 pounds, while Aaron Valadez (Class 2A 144) and Kevin Cisneros (Class 2A 150) were both second team.
For the girls. Alamosa’s Sarah DeLaCerda was second team at 110 pounds.
All-IML wrestling teams released
ALAMOSA – The Intermountain League announced its All-League wrestling teams on Wednesday with several competitors from the San Luis Valley being recognized.
The boys team was led by Centauri with seven All-League wrestlers. Six were on the first team including Matthew Salazar, Josh Polkowske, Caden Casias, Aundre Chavez, Riley Valdez and Parker Buhr. Spencer Smith was an honorable mention selection.
Polkowske and Valdez were the Co-Wrestlers of the Year along with Bayfield’s Keaton Pickering.
Alamosa had four selections. Dyson Woodward and Jeremiah DeLaCerda were both first team selections, and Anthony Griego and Uriah Martinez were honorable mention.
The girls team was also announced on Wednesday with four SLV female grapplers being named.
Alamosa was led by Sarah DeLaCerda who was the Wrestler of the Year. Also named for the Lady Mean Moose were Gizelle Meraz and Samantha Maestas.
Named for Monte Vista was Alyssa Campos.
