William Ernest Pearcy left this earth peacefully on Aug. 27, 2024, surrounded by his daughters, in Loganville, Ga., after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for the past 10 years. William (“Bill”) was born April 27, 1940, in Pueblo, Colo., to Earl and Florence Pearcy.
His survival was miraculous, since he was born prematurely, weighing only 3 pounds and a mere 13 inches long. Growing up, Bill lived in various places throughout his childhood, as his loving parents tried to find a sustainable climate for his acute sinus condition.
He and his parents eventually became longtime residents of Monte Vista. Bill attended Monte Vista High School, where he played baseball, and graduated in 1958. He later graduated from Adams State College with a degree in Finance.
He began his career at Rio Grande Savings & Loan in Monte Vista, where he worked for many years and was eventually promoted to president of the organization, before leaving in 1984. He retired several years later after working as an auditor for the State of Texas.
Bill is survived by his daughters Judith Kane (spouse Kevin Kane) of Theodosia, Mo., Susie Smith (spouse Raymond Smith) of Newport Beach, Calif., grandsons Christopher Kane (spouse Deborah Kane) of Chandler, Ariz., Kyle Kane of Phoenix, Ariz., Ryan Smith of Tucson, Ariz., and great-granddaughter Marceline Kane of Chandler, Ariz. He is also survived by his first wife, Janet Pearcy of Columbus, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his much-beloved parents, Earl and Florence Pearcy, an infant brother, his much-beloved son Clifford Pearcy, and second and third wives, Penny and Jane, respectively.
Bill’s ashes will be scattered in summer 2025, along with Clifford’s in the Santa Maria Reservoir and Clear Creek areas in Colorado.
