LA JARA — Distinguished and longtime La Jara resident Mr. Clinton “C.G.” Betenbough, 101, passed away on Nov. 3, 2023. in La Jara.

Mr. Betenbough was born May 9, 1922, in New Mexico to Cnignrouss and Maudie (Johnson) Betenbough. Mr. Betenbough married Bernice Waldrop who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by grandson Lee Harrison, and sons-in-law Gary Lofton, and David Winsauer.

Mr. Betenbough is survived by Trudy (Bill) Silverman, Monte Vista, Colo., Karen (Gary) Lofton, Monte Vista, Colo., Vicki (Dave) Winsauer, Monte Vista, Colo., Edna Jo (Mike) Jordan, Center, Colo., Glen (Kathy) Betenbough, Pheonix, Ariz., special friends Fred Gutierrez, La Jara, Colo., Alice Martinez, La Jara, Colo., and Steve Espinoza, La Jara, Colo.

Mr. Betenbough was full of love in everything that he touched. From serving his country proudly in the United States Army and becoming the last WWII veteran in Conejos County Colorado, to also taking care of his family including his own family of cows on the ranch. Mr. Betenbough lived life to the fullest.

Per Mr. Betenbough and his family's wishes, funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at Rogers Family Mortuary, 205 State Ave., Alamosa CO, 81101. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Rogers Family Mortuary. Burial will follow services at San Luis Valley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
