Future Town Event to be held in Center on Sept. 15

CENTER — The Town of Center will be hosting the Future Town Event sponsored by the civic group Warm Cookies of the Revolution. The event is set for Sept. 15, and will be held at Center Town Park from 3-7:30 p.m.

The event will be on the same night as a football game. The event will have a pep rally and some pregame fun for the Center football team from 3-4 p.m. People who show up for the pep rally at 3 p.m. will also be given free admission to the football game that night.

There will also be free t-shirts given to the first 100 people that show up at the event. The pregame fun will take place at the Center Pavilion right behind the football field. There will be lots of music, refreshments, drinks, and cookies.

The Center High School Pep Band will be playing, and the 2MX2 band will be playing as well. There will also be a live band featuring the music of a local Guatemalan band named Marimba Espiritu Maya. Everyone is invited to attend. There will be entertainment from live circus performers at the event, and various games for people.

The Future Town Event is brought to Center by the Future Town Tour that Warm Cookies of the Revolution is bringing to five cities in Colorado. The tour vividly reconceives the future of the American west through rural and urban collaboration. The idea is to employ the arts to revive the spirit of a community and their culture.

The Future Town Tour event for Center will be a local celebration of music, sports, and art. There will be Mexican food served at the event, including tacos, burritos, elotes, and green chili to name a few items. The event wants to hype up as many people as possible for the game that will happen the same night.

Residents are encouraged to bring instruments, songs, raps, and poetry to the event to share with everyone.

Katrina Ruggles spoke about the event and how it would be a great cultural event for the town of Center.

“This is going to be a lot of fun,” Ruggles said. “There will not be any food vendors, all the food will be free. We are going to have tons of great Mexican food. We are starting at 3 p.m. and will really hype things up. We will have a pep rally, some pregame fun, a live band. We will watch the game and then have another live band after the game. We are really looking forward to this event. We encourage everyone to come out and check out this great event sponsored by Warm Cookies of the Revolution.”
