Longtime Monte Vista resident Ray Warren Berry, 85, died June 4, 2023, at the River Valley Inn Nursing Home in Del Norte, Colo.

Ray was born in Monte Vista, Colo., to Walter Berry and Vera Dunn Berry. He married the love of his life, Kay Scidmore on Nov. 3, 1958, at the Sargent Community Church in Sargent, Colo.

Ray worked for many years delivering fuel for the Monte Vista CO-OP. He loved to hunt and fish, and work in his yard. He spent many hours landscaping and keeping his yard in top shape, garnering many compliments. In his younger years, he enjoyed woodworking.

Ray is survived by his wife Kay Berry of Monte Vista; his children Keith (Robyn) Robinson of Gunnison, Colo., Barbara Berry of Pueblo, Colo., and Eugene (Melissa) Berry of Salem, Ind.; as well as six grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Elizabeth Johnson, Margaret Hart, and Opal McCarty, and his brother John Berry.

A Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Rogers Family Mortuary, 404 Morris St. in Monte Vista. A Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2023, at the Sargent Community Church. A private interment will take place Friday afternoon in the San Luis Valley Cemetery.
