SAGUACHE COUNTY — The following information was provided by the Saguache County Sheriff’s Office for the period between Jan. 4, 2021, and Jan. 10, 2021.
The Sheriff’s Office fielded 49 calls during the week. Staff handled one fire in Moffat, three crashes, four ambulance rides and 10 controlled burns throughout the county. Helping with a search and rescue operation on Marshall Pass, assisting agencies and citizens, performing welfare checks and responding to cases of fraud and suspicious activity accounted for more than a quarter of the calls.
One of four routine patrols in Saguache escalated to a pursuit and arrest. On Jan. 9, Corporal Steven Hansen pursued a frost-bitten Michael Gonzales, who had a Failure to Appear warrant. Deputy James Chavez arrested Gonzales and took him into custody.
