Organizers postpone Dish SLV event

CENTER — The Dish SLV, a new event hosted by the Frontier Drive-Inn, has been postponed by the organizers. The event was previously set for Saturday, June 25.

“I am very sorry to let you know that this event has been postponed due to weather and COVID issues with some of our primary organizers and vendors,” organizers stated. “We really apologize for the inconvenience, but the predicted weather would have limited or completely prevented our music, family games and activities, film, and more. Also, with the current situation surrounding COVID in the Valley, we did not want to host an event that pushes people together inside or in a tent.”

Organizers have targeted July 9 for the event but are awaiting approval from local officials.

“However, this event will take place this summer,” organizers stated. “We are just waiting on one agency before we confirm our new date, but we expect it to be Saturday, July 9. Please let everyone know of this change! Postponement certainly isn't ideal for us, but we feel it is necessary. Again, I really apologize for the inconvenience, but we hope the postponement will allow us to provide a much better experience for residents of the Valley and beyond.”

The reimagined Frontier Drive-Inn has been working on the free event for months. There will be a competition for the best red or green chile dish in The Dish Cook-Off with the first-place winner grabbing $1,000. There will also be vendors, food, games, music, and a movie on the big screen.

Organizers are still accepting competitor applications and vendor applications. Chefs can call 410-349-7818 to compete and vendors can email [email protected] to participate in the event.
