ALAMOSA – The Colorado High School Activities Association released the brackets for the Class 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A state tournaments on Sunday with 14 teams from the San Luis Valley making the postseason.

The brackets are posted on the CHSAANow.com web site.

Class 4A girls

Alamosa enters the Class 4A girls state tournament as the No. 8 seed and it will host 25th-seeded Wellington at 7 p.m. on Friday. The first game will be between 24th seed Montezuma-Cortez and No. 9 Berthoud at 5:30 p.m.

The winners of the two games will play Saturday at 1 p.m.

Class 3A boys

Two teams from the valley will be in the Class 3A boys tournament.

Monte Vista is the 24th seed and will travel to Carbondale for it’s the first two rounds. The Pirates will play ninth-seeded Wiggins at, 4:30 p.m. Should they win, they will face either 25th-seeded Brush or the host team, eighth-seeded Roaring Fork Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Centauri enters as the 25th seed and it will travel to face seventh-seeded Windsor Charter Academy Friday at 7 p.m. A Falcons win will put them against either 23rd seed Arrupe Jesuit or 10th-seeded Liberty Common Saturday at 1 p.m.

Class 3A girls

Two local Class 3A girls teams have also advanced to state.

Centauri is the fourth seed and it will host 29th-seeded Liberty Common at 5 p.m. Friday. The second game between 20th-seeded Platte Valley and 13th-seeded Forge Christian will be at 6:45 p.m.

The winners will play Saturday at 1 p.m.

Monte Vista is the 18th seed and it will play 15th seed St. Mary’s in Wiggins Friday at 7 p.m. Should the Pirates win, they will take on either 31st seed Platte Canyon or second-seeded Wiggins Saturday at 1 p.m.

Class 2A boys

Two Class 2A boys teams will be at the state tournament and both will play at Sanford this weekend.

The Mustangs are the top-seeded team and they will play 32nd-seeded Ridgway at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Center is seeded 17th and will play 16th-seeded Custer County at 8:30 p.m.

The winners will play Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Class 2A girls

Four local teams will be at the Class 2A girls state tournament.

Sanford is the third seed and it will host 30th-seeded Ridgway at 4 p.m. on Friday. The other game will be between 19th-seeded Trinidad and 14th-seeded Swink at 7 p.m.

The winners will play Saturday at 1 p.m.

Sargent is the fourth seed and it too will host the first two rounds. The Farmers will host 29th-seeded Vail Mountain at 5:30 p.m. Friday. The other game is between 20th-seeded Hoehne and 13th-seeded Loveland Classical at 7 p.m.

The victors will play Saturday at noon.

Center is the 17th seed and it will travel to Merino to face 16th-seeded Byers at noon on Friday. Should the Vikings win, they will play either 32nd-seeded Custer County or top-seeded Merino Saturday at 1 p.m.

Del Norte is the 11th seed and it will travel to Collbran. Its first opponent is 22nd-seeded Dove Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. If the Tigers win, they will face 27th-seeded Mancos or sixth-seeded Plateau Valley Saturday at noon.

Class 1A boys

Two local teams are in the Class 1A State Tournament.

Sierra Grande is seeded 10th and it will travel to Denver to play 23rd-seeded Caliche at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Should the Panthers win, it will play either 26th-seeded Idalia or seventh-seeded Denver Waldorf on Saturday.

Sangre de Cristo is the 12th seed and it will play 21st-seeded Kim/Branson at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Stratton. A win will have the Thunderbirds facing either 28th-seeded Front Range Baptist or fifth seeded Stratton Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Class 1A girls

Creede is the only local team in the Class 1A girls state tournament. It enters as the 22nd seed and it will play 11th-seeded Briggsdale at noon Friday in Nucla. Should the Miners win, they will take on either 27th-seeded De Beque or sixth-seeded Nucla Saturday at 11 a.m.
