CENTER – The Alamosa High School girls soccer team began its 2026 season by defeating Harrison, 3-1, Friday at Center High School’s field.
Because of unplayable field conditions at the AHS field, all but one of the Mean Moose’s home games will take place at Center. The lone exception will be the April 24 game against Pagosa Springs. That game will take place at the Adams State University soccer/lacrosse field.
Alamosa took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute as Jayden Wubben sent a corner kick into the goalkeeper’s box where Araceli Molina put the ball into the net.
The Mean Moose scored another goal a minute later. This time Wubben was credited with the the goal, while Leah Higareda got the assist.
The score remained 2-0 at halftime.
Alamosa scored its third goal four minutes into the second half with Molina again putting the ball into the back of the net. The goal was unassisted.
The Panthers scored their only goal in the 46th minute. Fernanda Gomez sent a corner kick into the. box where Lexy Wilson sent the ball into the goal.
Harrison turned up the pressure after that, but the Alamosa defense kept the ball out of the goal.
Alamosa goalkeeper Dani Celis collected seven saves.
Alamosa (1-0) played Florence at Center on Tuesday. It’s next game will be at Mullen on Thursday.
