ALAMOSA – The Alamosa High School girls gymnastics team opened the season on Saturday by hosting a three-way meet against Pueblo Central and Denver South at Ortega Middle School.
The Mean Moose placed second in the meet with 154.55 points. They trailed Pueblo Central with 164.7, while Denver South scored 134.1.
Alamosa was led by Leah Pintor who was fourth in the all-around standings with 31.5 points. She was sixth on the balance beam with 7.75, she tied for sixth on the floor exercise with 7.9, she tied for seventh in the vault with 8.2, and was seventh in the uneven bars with 7.65.
Kenya Hostetter was fifth in the all-around with 31.4. She tied for fifth on the beam with 7.8, tied for sixth on the floor with 7.9, tied for seventh on the vault with 8.2, and was eighth on the bars with 7.5.
Braelyn Martinez was sixth in the all-around with 30.8. She won the balance beam with 8.4 points, and tied for eighth on the floor with 7.7, was ninth on the bars with 6.9, and was 10th on the vault with 7.8.
Chloe Kern was eighth in the all-around with 30.15 and she was second on the vault with 8.8 points. She also was seventh on the floor with 7.8, 10th on the bars with 6.75, and 13th on the beam with 6.8.
Taylor Off was ninth in the all-around with an even 30 points. She tied for eighth on the bars with 7.5, was ninth on the vault with 7.9, tied for ninth on the floor with 7.5, and 10th on the beam with 7.1.
Other Alamosa gymnasts included Nichole Goldsberry who tied for sixth on the vault with 8.4, 11th on the bars with 6.3, and 12th on the beam with seven points. Angelita Arellano was 13th on the floor with 6.4.
Pueblo Central’s Lily Nibert was the all-around champion with 33.7 points, and she also won the vault with nine points, and the bars with 8.85. She was also second on the floor with 8.6 and tied for ninth on the beam with 7.25.
Her teammate Karlie Knabenshue was second with 33.6. She won the floor with 9.05, was third on the beam with 7.95, tied for fourth on the vault with 8.5, and was fourth on the bars with 8.1.
Alamosa will travel to the Colorado Springs area on Saturday for the Palmer Ridge Meet. The first events begin at 10 a.m.
