ALAMOSA — The Alamosa Public Library is happy to offer free scholarships to Grow with Google’s suite of online, self-paced certificates.

And these certificates are not just things to frame and hang up on a wall (although that can certainly be done). These certificates are for classes that teach individuals job-ready skills that can land extremely well-paying jobs in industries that are always looking for employees.

According to information posted on the Grow with Google webpage, skills learned in the training can “unlock rewarding outcomes such as more than $93,000 median entry-level salary across certificate fields” with more than 1.8 million job postings.

“The courses are self-paced,” Maria Kramer, Alamosa Public Library Manager, told the Valley Courier. “People can use the library public computers if they need to, absolutely. If people are unfamiliar with online classes, we can help get them set up, and the Workforce Center or our Digital Navigator can help, too. People can take multiple certificates if they have the time!

“Five hundred scholarships are being offered where students can learn – for free – at their own pace,” Kramer said, “and prepare for a new career in three to six months, with under 10 hours of study per week, and no relevant experience or degrees required.

Courses are available in six different areas.

One course is in Cybersecurity. Cybersecurity analysts monitor and protect networks, devices, people, and data to mitigate outside threats and unauthorized access.

A different course is in Data Analytics. Data analysts collect, organize, and visualize data to uncover trends and help make informed business decisions.

Another certificate course is in Digital Marketing & E-Commerce. Digital marketers use online tools to connect with customers and help e-commerce specialists grow online sales.

There’s also training in IT Support. IT specialists help people by troubleshooting problems, so computers and networks run properly.

A fifth certificate course is available in Project Management. Project managers work with people to solve roadblocks and ensure projects are managed and completed with maximum value.

And, finally, there’s a course in UX Design. UX designers think creatively to make digital and physical products easier, more enjoyable, and accessible to use.

As Kramer described it, whether looking for a career in a growing field that comes with great earning potential without the need for a degree or considering making a change from a current career, these “Grow with Google” scholarships may be the exact right next step to take.
