The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is assisting the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) with the search for Fernando Rodriguez, 44, of Alamosa. Rodriguez is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that ocurred on Sunday, March 1, 2026. This story has been updated to include the victim's name.

ALAMOSA – The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is assisting the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) with a homicide investigation following an incident that occurred on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

At approximately 6:20 p.m. on March 1, Alamosa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the 3000 block of Lincoln Ave. after receiving a report of a 49-year old male who was unconscious and not breathing.

Upon arrival, deputies located a deceased male with visible injuries inside the residence. A female reporting party was also located and interviewed at the scene. As of Tuesday morning, the victim has been identified as 49-year-old Ryan Barnes, a resident of Alamosa County. 

Investigators are actively searching for an adult male identified as Fernando Rodriguez, 44, a resident of Alamosa. Rodriguez, who is known to local law enforcement, is believed to be driving a green 1995 Subaru Station Wagon with Colorado license plate AXO-F61.

The Alamosa County Sheriff's Office is also working closely with the CBI, the Alamosa Police Department, and the Colorado State Patrol on this active investigation.

The public is advised not to approach Fernando Rodriguez. Anyone with information regarding this incident or the whereabouts of Rodriguez is urged to immediately contact the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office at 719-589-5807.
