ALAMOSA – The Colorado High School Activities Association posted its regional volleyball brackets on Monday with five teams from the San Luis Valley being selected to participate.
The brackets are posted on the CHSAANow.com web site.
Three of the local schools will host their regional tournaments.
In Class 3A, Alamosa is the fourth seed and will host the Region 4 Tournament on Friday. The Lady Mean Moose will first play 33rd-seeded DSST: Conservatory Green at 4 p.m., followed by DSST: Conservatory Green facing 21st-seeded Valley in the second match. The Lady Mean Moose will host Valley in the final match.
Del Norte is the eighth seed and will host the Class 2A Region 8 Tournament. The Lady Tigers will first play 29th-seeded Fountain Valley at 10 a.m., followed by Fountain Valley facing 17th-seeded Caprock Academy in the second match. Del Norte will play Caprock Academy in the final match.
Sargent is the only team from the Southern Peaks League to play in the Class 1A postseason and the 10th-seeded Lady Farmers will host 15th-seeded La Veta in the Region 10 Tournament Saturday at 1 p.m.
Also in Class 3A, Centauri will play in the Region 11 Tournament at Bennett on Saturday. The Lady Falcons will first play the host team Bennett at 10 a.m. They will then face The Academy in the following match with Bennett and the Academy playing in the final match.
There are two other Intermountain League teams in regional action.
Bayfield is the 15th seed and will play in the Region 10 Tournament at 10th-seeded The Stargate School in Thornton. Colorado Academy is also in that region and is the 27th seed.
Pagosa Springs is the 34th seed and it will play at the third-seeded Village in Colorado Springs. Banning Lewis Academy is the 22nd seed and will also play in that region.
Also in Class 2A, Sanford is the 16th seed and will play in the Region 9 Tournament Friday at ninth-seeded Meeker. The Lady Mustangs will first play 28th-seeded Limon and will play the host team in their second match. The first match is at 1 p.m.
Another Class 2A Southern Peaks League School, Buena Vista, is the 22nd seed and will play in the Region 3 Tournament at third-seeded Lyons. Front Range Christian, the 34th seed, is also in that region.
Each of the regional champions will advance to their respective state tournament which will take place Nov. 14-16 at the Denver Coliseum.
