"Insanely talented" Stillhouse Junkies returns to Society Hall

It's not just a concert. It's an experience.

ALAMOSA — Fresh on the heels of a remarkable concert by the Appalachian folk group Redd and The Paper Flowers, Society Hall brings back yet another amazing band to Alamosa.

On Thursday night, May 28, the Stillhouse Junkies will be onstage with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the show starting at 7:30 p.m..  The concert will also stream live on the Society Hall Facebook page and You-Tube channel.

Described as “insanely talented” with concerts that are “superbly performed” and original storytelling that is a “musical feat”, the Durango based Stillhouse Junkies deliver a performance that will stay with you long after the concert is over.

With band founder and lead singer Fred Kosak on guitar and mandolin, Alissa Wolf on fiddle and Jeannette Adams on string bass, the depth and richness of music created by just three stringed instruments is exhilarating if not outright difficult to believe. But then, when Wolf and Adams join Kosak in a perfectly balanced blend of harmony, the band’s performance rises to even new heights, taking the audience along with them for the ride.

Acoustic adventurers Stillhouse Junkies explore the worlds between roots, bluegrass, Texas swing, blues and rock. The free-flowing musical interplay and improvisation make every show unique as they weave their way through high-energy, intricately composed original songs, never taking the same path twice.

Formed in 2017, Stillhouse Junkies have released four full-length albums. Their most recent effort, 2025’s The Ballad of Charlie Avalon, is an ambitious concept album featuring narration by newgrass icon Sam Bush. The band has also released a series of singles featuring collaborations with the legendary Tim O’Brien, renowned fiddler Ross Holmes, and popular songwriter Rachel Baiman.

As they tour relentlessly across the United States and abroad, Stillhouse Junkies are earning accolades and gaining a reputation as one of the most exciting bands in the acoustic music scene, and their busy schedule has seen them supporting Willie Carlisle, The Lil Smokies, and Asleep at the Wheel.

Those who know a lot about what’s involved in being successful in the music industry seem to largely agree on one thing: Stillhouse Junkies is definitely “going somewhere”. With that in mind, take a moment to slow down, sit back and spend a Thursday night at Society Hall that will give you the bragging rights to say you saw Stillhouse Junkies before they were huge. From festivals to performing arts centers - Stillhouse Junkies deliver a one-of-a-kind experience.

“Valley audiences may remember them from their 2025 show at Society Hall and from the Alamosa Live Music Association Sundays at Six concert series from the previous year,” Don Richmond recalls. “We're honored to have them back!”

The board of Society Hall, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, invites you to another wonderful musical evening with the Stillhouse Junkies, Thursday, May 28th at 7:30 pm. Doors will be open at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $20.00 and are available online at www.societyhall.org or in Alamosa at The Green Spot. Society Hall - Where Community Celebrates!
