ALAMOSA – The Intermountain League released its All-Conference basketball teams earlier this month with 16 players from the San Luis Valley being honored.
Eleven of the players were on the girls team and league champion Centauri had the most selections with five. Rylie McCarroll, Lyndie Sowards and Paityn Sowards were all named to the first team, while Sydney Haslett and Kynlei Curtis were honorable mention.
Centauri’s Jeremy Romero was named the Coach if the Year,
Alamosa had four selections and was led by Jaelin Garcia, who was named the Player of the Year. She was also on the first team along with Audrina Knorr and Aubrey Rothermich, while Leela Gutierrez was honorable mention.
Monte Vista had two selections in Reminee Mascarenas who was on the first team, and Janessa Marquez who was honorable mention.
For the boys, Centauri was the local team with the most selections with three. Carson Shawcroft was first team, and Sean Jarvies and Keadon McGinnis were both honorable mention.
Monte Vista had two selections as Azariah Hurtado was first team, and Kelby Mondragon was honorable mention.
Victor Zepeda was the only Alamosa player named All-Conference and he was placed on the first team.
