On Sunday March 23rd, 2025, James (Jim) Pomeroy passed from this world at the age of 87. Surrounded by a loving family, he passed away quietly and without pain at Hope West Hospice in Grand Junction.
Born in 1938 in Los Angeles, Jim moved to Aspen in the late 50’s, and managed several prominent ski shops before opening his own shop, Pomeroy Sports, in the early 70’s. He was a Veteran.
After leaving Aspen in the 80’s, he lived in Carefree, Ariz., Creede, Colo., and lastly Fruita, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his ex-wife Joan Bigelow and second wife Suzanne Mathias.
He is survived by his wife Louise, sons Jim (Jill), Chris (Courtney) and daughter Katie (Craig), stepchildren Linda (Mark), Libette, Mark and Whitney (Jared), sister Anne, nephews Jim and Tom, niece Julie and seven grandchildren.
Memorial service is planned for Mid June in Creede.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his name to Hope West Hospice.
