While many in the community know him as a musician, Kosmowski is also a highly accomplished painter. He creates his paints and mixes them with Venetian plaster, layering the unique combination in carefully orchestrated patterns and colors. Kristof's work is created in the interesting field of neuroaesthetics. Kristof Kosmowski was a prodigy in the European art world. He was awarded 25 one-man shows in the largest cities of his native Poland by the time he was 25.
Kosmowski's early recognition stemmed from paintings featured in significant collections worldwide. He was commissioned by the country of Poland to create a series of works that were used as postage stamps. Kosmowski's early works are displayed at the National Museum in Warsaw, Poland, and in the Finnish Parliament building. In 2010, Kosmowski's journey of creative exploration took a turn toward the abstract.
His challenging medium of Venetian Plaster and oil paints provides his work with depth, texture, and a rich vibrancy. Venetian Plaster is primarily composed of crushed marble and lime putty. Its extensive history dates all the way back to Roman times, with a resurgence during the Renaissance era in Venice and again with the skilled hands of Kristof Kosmowski.
Come meet Kristof and learn more about his work on Sunday, July 20, starting at 3 p.m. This event is free to the public. Visit www.shumeicrestone.org or call 256-5284, for more information.
