ALAMOSA — On Friday, July 18, the annual PALS (Positive Activities Lead to Success) Children's Talent Show at Richardson Hall will take place on the campus of Adams State University in Alamosa at 5:30 p.m. in Richardson Hall Auditorium.
Each year, the talent show gives PALS kids a chance to shine on stage, showcasing weeks of hard work, creativity, and confidence. It's a special night to recognize and uplift their achievements, filling us all with pride and inspiration.
This year's theme is "Men in Black" — featuring extraterrestrials, secret agents, and rocket ships. The event celebrates the incredible talents of the PALS program, promising an evening of excitement and intrigue not to be missed.
The PALS Children's Program at La Puente Home is a referral-based, licensed after-school and summer program designed for kindergarten through 5th-grade children with high social-emotional needs. It's a community effort, tailored to the unique needs and interests of each child, promoting a sense of connection and involvement. PALS focuses on fostering social, emotional, and behavioral growth utilizing evidence-based practices within a nurturing and exploratory learning environment. The program is designed to empower children by strengthening their sense of self, fostering a connection to their family, and promoting engagement with their community.
According to La Puente, through creative activities and enriching experiences, PALS encourages personal growth, self-expression, and resilience. PALS also offers family support in the form of goal setting, provides educational opportunities for families, and collaborates with other community organizations. Through this expansion of the program, we have implemented, since late 2023, a program for PALS graduates. This program allows children to return and support the program by mentoring, attending field trips, receiving support when needed, and engaging in community service.
