ALAMOSA — An artist’s reception for the Narrow Gauge Books December Artist of the Month, Perla Kopeloff, will be on Dec. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m., at Narrow Gauge Books in Alamosa.
Her beautiful art will be in store all month long, to include wearables, journals, and paper crafts!
Kopeloff was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. There, she graduated as an architect and travelled in Europe for many years before coming to the USA, bringing with her a vast experience in design color, and texture.
Here in the US, she became a weaver and a paper maker, selling her work in Virginia, New Mexico, and Colorado. She currently markets her wares in Santa Fe and Taos, N.M. She resides in Alamosa.
Kopeloff gives herself time to research the papermaking sources she is using; her work reflects a great deal of interpretation of ancient and contemporary paper making techniques. She wants to become another craftsman of the world following a long tradition of bast fibers.
