ALAMOSA  — A 24-year-old resident was arrested Thursday afternoon following a shooting at a convenience store that led to a police pursuit, according to a press release issued by the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Terry Lawson faces multiple charges, including two counts of criminal attempt to commit second-degree murder, after deputies responded to a report of shots fired at Love’s Convenience Store, 138 Broadway Ave., at approximately 4:50 p.m.

Before arriving at the scene, Alamosa County Sheriff's Office deputies were notified that a vehicle linked to the shooting was fleeing the area. Officers from the Alamosa Police Department and sheriff's deputies located and stopped the suspect vehicle near County Road 6 South and North River Road.

Investigators determined that multiple shots were fired during a disturbance at the store.

Lawson was booked into the Alamosa County Detention Center. In addition to the attempted murder charges, Lawson is charged with two counts of felony menacing, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, prohibited use of a weapon and disorderly conduct.

Authorities said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Alamosa Police Department and the Colorado State Patrol for their assistance. The case remains under investigation.
