A snowy sunrise scene on the morning of Dec. 10 in Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. This early morning photo includes pine trees in the foreground, dunes, and 13,345-ft Mt. Herard in the background surrounded by clouds. The peak was originally named Medano Peak, then renamed Mount Seven due to the seven separate summits on the mountain and renamed again to Mount Herard to honor Ulysses Herard who homesteaded there in 1876.
